Treatment Agreements

If your doctor asks you to sign a pain treatment agreement, discuss any concerns you may have with the doctor before signing the agreement. The questions you might want to ask are: my treatment program may change depending on the outcome of treatment, especially if the painkillers are ineffective. These drugs are stopped. The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) has adopted new temporary provisions relating to the Opiate Patient Treatment Agreements Act in Pennsylvania. The orders were published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin on March 7, 2020. I read the bill. It requires some vocabulary in the agreement regarding the goals of therapy, joint decision-making, and the risks associated with chronic opioid treatment.

It requires a UDS at the beginning of treatment. It does not contain guidelines in legislation, but refers to the clearly evolving guidelines for pa opioid prescribing. It excludes palliative care, emergency pain and cancer. Informed Consent provides a framework for the risk associated with treatment. In the chronic treatment of opioids (COT) in patients with pain, the tool describes the potential risks (z.B. potential for dependence on controlled substances) and benefits. The language of informed consent may be included in a processing agreement or as a separate document. The risks and benefits of COT, possible side effects, the goal of treatment and the ability to facilitate ongoing communication about treatment goals are part of the basic standard framework.
